Test markets

  • Sacramento, California

As of October 20, 2026, Taco Bell Baja Chicken is a Sacramento-area test. Brand Eating reported the menu that day, and Sporked matched the same build and the same three deal prices on October 21. It is not the national Cantina Chicken menu. Those bowls and burritos already have their own typical pickup prices on this site. Mixing the two would invent a test price.

What is in the test

Brand Eating described crispy chicken or slow-roasted chicken, creamy Baja sauce, and Baja slaw made from purple cabbage and cilantro in a poblano dressing, plus shredded cheddar and pico de gallo. The items change by store. The names in that report are Baja Crispy Chicken Soft Tacos, Cantina Baja Chicken Soft Tacos, Baja Crispy Chicken Burritos, Cantina Baja Chicken Burritos, Cantina Baja Crispy Chicken Bowls, and Cantina Baja Slow-Roasted Chicken Bowls. Sporked's list is the same. A restaurant in the test can carry one of those and not the others.

Prices that were actually published

Three deals were priced. A $9 Discovery Luxe Box includes a Baja Crispy Chicken Soft Taco, a Burrito Supreme, a Crunchy Taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium drink. A $9.99 Baja Crispy Chicken Soft Taco Combo is two of those tacos, Nacho Fries, and a large drink. A 2-piece order of Crispy Chicken Strips is $3.99. The Pass Brief later called the box a Baja Discovery Luxe Box at the same $9. The contents match. This page uses Brand Eating's name and price.

A la carte tacos, burritos, and bowls were not given their own dollars in those reports. A later roundup attached a $3.29 to $6.99 range to the whole lineup and then said the range was not a price for each item. That range is not on this table. If your Sacramento store prints a taco price, the app is the source. This page will not guess it.

Not the national chicken menu

Cantina Chicken on the national pickup reading for October 24, 2026 was a different item: the bowl was typically $8.19 and the burrito $5.99. Those medians are not Baja prices. Official Sacramento Cantina pages are the permanent menu, not this test. Calories for the Baja builds were not in the Brand Eating or Sporked reports, so the calorie cells are blank.

Where to try it

Sporked said the test is in Sacramento, and that stores in that area do not all carry the same items or the same deal. There is no national launch date. A test can stay in one city. If you are not in the Sacramento area, the app will not grow a Baja taco just because a blog hopes it will.

How it compares

  • Taco Bell Cantina Chicken

National Cantina Chicken was typically $8.19 for the bowl and $5.99 for the burrito on October 24, 2026. Baja Chicken is a separate Sacramento test and does not use those prices.

  • Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme

A Crunchwrap Supreme was typically $6.79 on October 24, 2026. That is the national item, not a Baja taco. The Baja deals filed here are $9, $9.99, and $3.99.

Is it worth it?

Go to a Sacramento-area Taco Bell and read the app if you want this test. The only dollars filed here are the $9 box, the $9.99 two-taco combo, and the $3.99 two-piece strips. Everything else varies by location.

Questions people ask

Where is Taco Bell testing Baja Chicken?

Brand Eating and Sporked both place the test in the Sacramento, California area as of October 20 and 21, 2026. It is not a national menu. Stores in that area do not all carry the same items.

How much is Taco Bell Baja Chicken?

The published test deals are a $9 Discovery Luxe Box, a $9.99 two-taco combo with Nacho Fries and a large drink, and 2-piece Crispy Chicken Strips at $3.99. A la carte taco, burrito, and bowl prices vary by location.

What is in the Baja Chicken build?

Crispy or slow-roasted chicken, creamy Baja sauce, purple-cabbage slaw with cilantro and a poblano dressing, shredded cheddar, and pico de gallo. The format can be a soft taco, a burrito, or a bowl, and the list changes by store.

Is Baja Chicken the same as Cantina Chicken?

No. Cantina Chicken is on the national menu. On October 24, 2026 the bowl was typically $8.19 and the burrito $5.99. Those figures are not the Sacramento Baja test, and this page does not swap them.

Will Baja Chicken go nationwide?

Nobody has announced that. Sporked said a wider test depends on how Sacramento responds. Until Taco Bell says otherwise, treat it as one-city test menu, not a launch date.
